Temples in Rishikesh are the main attraction for tourists & pilgrims since many decades. Rishikesh has many ancient & powerful temples which are less known temples among tourists however these temples are very popular among the locals. Some of the temples are thousands of year old and some are related to Indian mythology with Ramayana & Mahabharat.
Bharat Mandir :
“The history of Bharat Manadir is as old as of the history of Rishikesh, which was named after the Hrishikesh Bhagwan. The legends say pleased with the penance of Rabiya Rishi lord Vishnu said: “I will reside here as Hrishikesh Narayan and this town will be called Hrishikesh.”

Bharat Mandir is dedicated to lord In an excavation in Bharat Mandir complex, there were many Statues and & utensils found which were dating back to Mahabharat kal ( period) .”
The temples construction dates back to 2nd & 3rd centaury and constructed in different parts in different times.
In 9th century shree Adi Shankra charya built ” Sri Yantra” in the internal dome of the sanctum above the idol of hrishikesh.
The present peripheral structure of the temple was built in 1832 AD by Maharaja of Nabha State Yashwant Malvendra Bahadur, where the top of the dome of the temple is made of a single rock piece.
